 Welcome to Anime Angels
Posted by Guest - 10-18-07 15:45 - 0 comments
Welcome to Anime Angels (version 16), Christian Anime Community!

Please use the menus on the left to view the content on the site. You can learn about Anime Angels, read our Statement of Faith or find out how to become a Christian.

We, of course, have our interactive forums that we'd love you to join and post in. There are sections there for anime, manga and video game reviews, Bible studies and questions, discussions and much more.

Another large part of Anime Angels is our Mangazine, the first Christian Manga (Japanese Comics) Magazine. The mangazine brings together independent Christian manga works along with regular features like Anime/Manga tutorials, Bible studies, articles about the anime world from a Christian point of view, and gaming and anime reviews.

There is even a Convention Ministry portion of Anime Angels that hold panels and church services at anime conventions across the country that you can volunteer for.

We also have online "adoptions" for you, an art gallery and our very own merchandise.

Finally, if you have trouble using the site, stop in to the Troubleshooting forum on the message board for help.

So please sign up and join our community. Registration is free and easy! (If you were a member on any of our older site versions and suddenly find that you can't log in, you will need to sign up again for a new account.)

Before you decide to join, though, we now have a policy for inactive accounts. At the beginning of every month, we'll be going through the user database and deleting any account that is more than a month old and has no posts on the forums. In other words, if you're going to sign up then we want you to actually post something there! Please don't be afraid, then, to sign up and join in our discussions -- as long as what you post abides by our rules and guidelines.

 MelMak steps down...
Posted by The Melody Maker - 10-25-09 23:21 - 11 comments
Well, everyone, to make a long story short, this is going to be my very last post on these forums as a staffer. After a very long time of carefully praying and thinking about it, I've made the difficult decision to step down from my position as both webmaster and administrator/moderator due to the busyness of life's responsibilities which drain me of the time I once had. But I'm not leaving the site altogether; I'm just becoming a regular member again and will still drop in to post now and then like I usually do.

It was a blessing and a pleasure to help keep the site running smoothly for the last few years, and I'm thankful to have worked with such wonderful staff and good members like yourselves. I'm glad to be able to leave the webmastering maintenance of the site in the very capable hands of Draw2much and Anime4Christ.

For my final parting words as site staffer, I can think of none other than the second half of my favorite verse, Ephesians 5:19...

"[Sing] and [make] melody in your heart to the Lord!"

Posted by Draw2much - 08-30-09 07:29 - 13 comments
Hey folks! I'm letting everyone know that I'm moving and won't have consistent access to the internet. Therefore, Melody Maker is temporarily "in charge". If you have any questions, please contact him!

If you're curious, I'm moving to Texas! That's right! I call it the "Big Flag State". I'm looking forward to meeting new people and getting to know a new area. Please keep my and my family (husband + 2 kitties) in your prayers.

We leave on the 1st of September. (The 31st* of August for you guys.)

Truly,
Nicole K

Need help with mangazine and website
Posted by anime4christ - 07-25-09 06:05 - 11 comments
Our mangazine hasn't been published since 2007 and lately our website has been up and down as well. I have some ideas for improvement, but I can't do it on my own. I need a team of enthusiastic people who can help out with various tasks to improve the zine and the website. Web development or publishing knowledge is not required. Right now, what I need most, is people who can gather information and organize it, but not only that. If you like the zine and the website and want to help improve it in any way, send me a PM with what you think you can do.

If you have any ideas, post them here. I have a good number, but more won't hurt.

Some of my ideas for the website actually come from the past: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://animeangels.net
Plus, for new people who may not know much about our zine, you can download some issues for free from: http://aa.lyosha.me/

PS. When I talk about the website, I don't mean the forum as much as the rest of it, and I don't mean downtime either; our admins and mods are doing awesome on the forum and we have a really cool webmaster as well even though I am here to back him up as well.

 A big thank-you goes to...!
Posted by Nadia - 07-23-09 03:45 - 10 comments
Some of you may have gotten word of where to go to get updated on AA's status (Anime Angels Live Journal is the place to go) since the site went down on June 21. It was there that Draw2Much, Keely, MelMak, and A4C discussed and worked hard to bring AA back up.

For those that don't know (and for those in the know, feel free to correct the details), the domain name expired, and it wasn't able to be renewed because of some difficulties with a "parent account." On top of that, unknown people put high bids on "AnimeAngels.net." Currently, to my knowledge, it's still being bid on. Draw2Much and Keely kept us updated on all of that...

...while A4C and MelMak brought AA to this temporary site that Draw2Much got for us, and got the board up and running for all of us.

THANK YOU, Draw2Much, Keely, MelMak, and A4C for your work and dedication (much appreciated!), because AA would not exist without you guys and without God for that matter -- He blessed us with awesome maintainers here. :D

So, everyone, please remember to thank them!

EDIT: Well, as most everyone knows by now, we're back to our usual domain name. ^_^

To All The Roleplayers out there...
Posted by Star_Ronuway - 05-4-09 23:40 - 0 comments
Okay, I have been noticing that a number of RPs recently have required me to step in and ask people to change things. I don't do this to be mean, but because of the rules here on the site. But nonetheless, the majority of the things that I mod are things that are already stated as being "no-no's" in the rules. I would just like to remind you all to take a look at the rules as a reminder and so we won't have any problems later on. meow.gif

Here's the link:

P.S. Thanks to everyone who has changed their RPs so willingly. usedusedused.gif

 Signatures
Posted by The Melody Maker - 04-19-09 23:39 - 11 comments
Okay, everyone -- to make a long story short, it seems that many of your signatures are starting to get a little bit too big for our liking. We can understand the need to express yourself by having many images of your favorite bishies and many lines of your favorite song lyrics and so on and so forth, but when we find ourselves having to scroll through more pages of signature than actual post, it gets to be rather burdensome.

So, we are going to now put a restriction on the height of your signatures and ask for them to be no more than around 600 pixels -- or about half the height of your browser window (assuming it takes up the whole screen), if you use a larger than 800*600 resolution. Basically, no bigger than about this size:

user posted image

We'll give you all about a week or so to get your sigs cleaned up a little bit; I know it'll be tough to decide what should go. But after that, we'll start PMing you with the request to clean it up -- or we'll do it for you.

Thank you all in advance. smile.gif

 Be careful online...
Posted by The Melody Maker - 01-21-09 06:42 - 9 comments
Not everybody that you meet online is friendly; some of them might be predators. Please be extremely careful about whom you give any sort of personal information to. If you ever receive a PM from someone that makes you uncomfortable, please don't hesitate to contact one of us staffers and we'll deal with it as soon as we can. We want you all to be safe online, and enjoy your time of worship, fun and fellowship here.

Taking a break for a bit
Posted by anime4christ - 01-18-09 01:53 - 9 comments
I'm going to take a break from forums for about a month to catch up with college, Bible institute, and a few projects I have to do. So I won't be on much for the next month (and if I happen to be, tell me to get off. LOL)

Art and Writing Contest - Important Announcement!
Posted by goldenspines - 12-31-08 00:02 - 4 comments
Greetings Anime Angels members!

As some of you may know, the deadline for the Art and Writing contest is today.
But due to lack of entries so far, I have decided to extend the deadline to January 6th, 2009
(mark your calenders, peoples!) icon_mrgreen.gif

Now, what does this actually mean for those of you that might have rushed around to get your entries done before today? If you have submitted an entry already, you have been given one of two choices of what to do.

1. You may take your entry, rework it to make it better if you so desire, then resubmit it to myself or Eko, and that final entry will be the one that we judge.

or

2. You may just leave your entry(all the entries are brilliant so far, by the way) as it is and sit back and relax until the deadline. ^_^

Again, the new deadline for the contest is January 6th .

Thank you very much for your time and happy drawing/writing!

 Dealing with Illegal Anime Hosting
Posted by Draw2much - 12-9-08 05:22 - 1 comments
The Question: Can I link to a website that's hosting licensed anime illegally?

The Answer: No. Let me explain why.

The Bible says in Hebrews 13:17:
QUOTE
Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.

And in Romans 13:1-7:
QUOTE
Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake.  For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing. Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.

The Bible makes it quite clear we are to obey our government. Sometimes the laws our government makes are unfair or stupid, but we are to obey them anyway. (Unless, of course, they contradict God's law. smile.gif )

In the US it is illegal for any website to host a licensed anime without the permission of the company holding that license. It is also illegal for any US citizen to go to those websites and watch or download said licensed anime.

Animeangels.net is a website run and paid for by US citizens. We are also Christians. We therefore can not endorse these websites. We also can't allow our members to link to these websites on the forum because that would make it look like we endorse them.

I'm asking all of the members of Anime Angels to keep this in mind and refrain from posting links to these websites. Thank you for understanding our position on this and cooperating. smile.gif

I will be adding this to our Rules & Guidelines section so new members know not to link as well.

Now, before I go, I'd like to mention some websites you CAN link to. There are, in fact, websites that host licensed anime LEGALLY and for FREE. So far I know of three, I'm sure as the year goes on more will start popping up.

Joost
HULU
CrunchyRoll

[Note: There is adult or teen+ content on these websites. Please keep this in mind when you visit them.]

If you see a troll on the forum...
Posted by goldenspines - 08-14-08 20:34 - 1 comments
Please, please, do not respond to it's post.
Why? Because this will encourage the troll to post more and more awful stuff and the mess will be harder for the moderators to clean up later.

Now, for those of you who don't know a "troll" is, it's a member who signs up on a forum just looking to start a fight or post inappropriate content to get people mad.

So, if any of you see a member with an inappropriate username, signature, avatar, or any bad content in their post, please PM a mod(like MelMak, Syreth, or Draw2Much) about it immediately and do not respond to("feed") the troll.

Now, we don't often get many trolls here and I've seen no members actually "feeding" trolls on here either(that means you're all doing awesome so far! grin.gif); but just in case some trolls do come along, report them as quickly as your fingers can type and don't respond to them.

Thank you. ^_^

 Rules reminder
Posted by The Melody Maker - 08-14-08 05:29 - 4 comments
Greetings in His name, everyone. I am very saddened to say that I had to temporarily take the forums offline for a while tonight to clean up some troll activity that went on today. I only apologize for not being able to catch it sooner, but I am thankful that I was able to catch it before it became really bad.

This brings up the need to reinforce and restate the rules that we have set up for the sake of members who are not quite so mature in their walk with our Lord. Nicole (Draw2much) came up with some really good guidelines here...

http://www.animeangels.net/forums/index.php?act=boardrules

In summary, pray before you post -- and treat our other members with the same kind of respect that you would if you were talking with them in person. To partly quote Philippians 4:8 -- "Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise," then post about these things! Our purpose here is to do what honors our Lord Jesus, not what gives Him a bad name.
